A new baseball diamond at Northside Park in Aledo will host its first games this week.
The Aledo Park District began development of a third field at Northside Park in 2020. The new field will serve as the varsity home of the Mercer County High School baseball program.
Mercer County High School baseball coach Jake Harrison joined Sportsline on Saturday and discussed the new facility.
Mercer County’s first game on the new diamond is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon against Bureau Valley.
An “Opening Day” ceremony for the new field is planned for Saturday when the Golden Eagles host Amboy.
