West Central (19-4, 11-3 Lincoln Trail Conference) beat Mercer County (19-4, 12-1 LTC) 5-1 in softball Tuesday.
The Golden Eagles took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning, but then allowed the final five runs of the game unanswered. Shelby Bowman and Bailey Ryan both went 2-3 with an RBI in the win for the Heat.
Madi Frieden drove in the lone run for Mercer County.
Addie Seitz allowed one unearned run in seven innings and struck out seven to earn the win. Elsie Cook was tagged with the loss for the Golden Eagles. She gave up five runs on eight hits in six innings.
Mercer County hosts West Central Thursday afternoon on WRMJ.
