Eagles Sweep Heat

Mercer County used two strong pitching performances to sweep West Central in a Lincoln Trail Conference doubleheader Tuesday.  Freshman Kale Breeden tossed a two hitter, striking out 11 in a 11-1 five inning win in game one, Hunter Weeks gave up just one hit, striking out 9 in a 4-0 game two victory. In other action Sherrard pushed across the winning run in the top of the seventh to beat Erie-Prophetstown 3-2. Gage Carter got the win in relief of Brennan Welch. United pounded Galva 20-0 in five as Nolan Leffler had three hits and four rbi and Riverdale won a battle over Orion 4-0 to remain undefeated in the TRAC.  Gage Hugart tossed a two hitter, striking out 16 for the Rams.

In softball, Ridgewood outslugged Mercer County 10-7. The Golden Eagles lead 7-6 through four innings but the Spartans rallied for the win.  Riverdale beat Orion 7-2.

In soccer, Orion-Sherrard blanked Macomb 3-0 to improve to 10-5 on the season.
