Eagles Post LTC Road Win, Riverdale Hosts Area Track

Mercer County went on the road in the Lincoln Trail Conference and came away with a 14-9 win over Princeville Tuesday. Matthew Lucas had two hits and two rbi to lead the offense and Jude Hoffman got the win despite giving up 8 earned runs. Freshman Kale Breeden shut down the Princes over the final 4 2/3 innings. Chance Stropes went 3-3 with a three-run homer as Orion pounded Ridgewood 17-1 in five innings. Kewanee downed Knoxville 12-5.

In softball, Kewanee beat Riverdale 2-1 and Princeville rolled over Low Point-Washburn 14-1.

On the oval, Riverdale hosted four other schools in Port Byron. In the girls meet, Mercer County finished on top with 136 points followed by Riverdale with 112, Knoxville 110, Orion 95, and Riverdale 55. In the boys meet, Riverdale lead the way with 177 points, Mercer County 123, Erie-Prophetstown 108, Knoxville 68, and Orion 16.
