Dallas Dean Switzer, 93 of New Windsor, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Monday, December 16, at Dennison Funeral Home in Viola. The funeral service will directly follow at 12 p.m. Interment will be at the Calvary Lutheran Cemetery in New Windsor. Memorial contributions may be left to the New Windsor Public Library or the New Windsor Volunteer Fire Department.
Dallas was born on July 4, 1931, in New Windsor, the son of Keith and Vernie Williams Switzer. He was a graduate of the New Windsor High School. He married Pauline Carlson on July 29, 1950, in Moline. She passed away on December 10, 2020.
Dallas was employed as a spring maker at the Rock Island Arsenal for many years. He retired from the Arsenal in 1993. In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing, gardening, wood working, coloring, and supporting his grandkids at all of their events.
He is survived by one daughter-in-law, Janalee Switzer of New Windsor; son-in-law, Greg Feik of New Windsor; five grandchildren, Darci Banks of Cape Coral, Florida, Casey (Micaela) Switzer of Viola, Megan (Brett) Daniel of Coal Valley, Calynn Schiess of New Windsor, and Nicki Feik of Ankeny, Iowa; five great grandchildren, Olivia Switzer, Avery Daniel, Aiden Switzer, Reese Daniel, and Kinnick Schiess; and several nieces and nephews.
Dallas was preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughter, Cindy Feik; son, Brad Switzer; sister, Sandra Allison; and brother-in-law, Tedo Allison.
