Charles ‘Charlie’ Lee Lemon – Services At A Later Date

Charles “Charlie” Lee Lemon, 75 of Aledo, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at Mercer Manor in Aledo. Cremation rites will be accorded. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be left to the Iowa VA. Online condolences can be made at www.fippingerfuneralhome.com.

He was born on November 13, 1948, to Lyle D. and Frances Connerley Lemon in Monmouth, Illinois. Charlie served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1969 and was at the Battle of Hamburger Hill. After his time in the Army, Charlie was employed at International Harvester. He later worked at L.D. Lemon & Sons Disposal in Aledo for 20 years; he would also help local farmers during planting and harvest time.

Charlie married Kathy Goodman in Aledo in 2018. He was previously married to Debbie Larson and Patti Mitchell. Charlie was a lifetime member of the Mercer County VFW Post 1571 and the Aledo American Legion Fallerans Post #121. He enjoyed woodworking, tinkering, helping neighbors and friends with anything that needed to be fixed, and boating and being on the river.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy Lemon of Aledo; two children, Mark McCullough of Aledo and Amy (Brad) Rode of Greenfield, Indiana; four grandchildren, Cody, Breanna, Paige, and Derek; one sister, Carol Ann King of Aledo; and several nieces and nephews.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Bob Lemon.
