Barbara J. DeShane, 84 of New Boston, formerly of Viola, died Thursday, April 28, 2022, at her daughter’s home with her family at her side. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, May 3, at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. Burial will be in the New Boston Cemetery. Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m., Monday, at Speer Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Viola or New Boston Fire Departments.
Barbara J. Lutrell was born on March 3, 1938, in Moline, Illinois to William and Mildred (Howe) Lutrell. She married Paul H. DeShane on April 19, 1958, in Moline. He preceded her in death on September 25, 2020.
Barbara was a dedicated homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She and Paul were inseparable and loved going for drives, going to auctions, and camping at the lake. She was addicted to her game shows and collected Scottie Dogs, among other items. Barbara was a very positive person who just loved to be with people and lit up the room with her smile.
Barbara is survived by her children and spouses: Matthew DeShane and Andrea Lorah of Aledo, Timothy and Sherry DeShane of New Windsor, Andrew and Annette DeShane of Wilmington, DE, Tammy and Tom Hammond of New Boston, and Doug and Sandy Dyer of New Boston; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a brother, William Lutrell.
