Barbara Ann Gaylor, 89 of New Boston, passed away Sunday, December 14, 2025, at the UnityPoint Health – Trinity Rock Island Hospital. Barbara was born on August 6, 1936, in New Boston, the daughter of Freeman and Helen Howard Shoemaker. She married Bill Gaylor on July 31, 1984. Together they owned and operated a restaurant and bar in New Boston for many years. She enjoyed painting, gardening, fishing, and spending time with her family and cats.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, William Carle of New Boston, Darlene Bates of New Boston, Dannette (Rick) Janes of Burlington, and Michael Keith of New Boston; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Virginia Briles of Keithsburg, Vicki (Terry) Criesel of Keithsburg, Rick (Donna) Shoemaker of Muscatine, Tim (Becky) Shoemaker of Keithsburg, and Jeri Seargeant of Keithsburg; and many more family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; daughter, Cindy Franklin; son, Donald Carle; and siblings, Freeman Shoemaker, Tina Byrd, Ben Shoemaker, and Bill Shoemaker.
