Orion Falls Short At Wharton Field House

Orion came up short in a 71-56 loss to Moline at Wharton Field House on Tuesday.

Kyler Owens opened the game with a mid-range jumper to put the Chargers ahead 2-0, but the Maroons responded with a 13-0 run and led for the rest of the night.

Moline (7-1, 3-0 Western Big 6) made 10 three-pointers, including eight in the first half, and led the game 46-25 at halftime.

Orion (8-2, 1-1 TRAC West) went on an 11-0 run to cut Moline’s 48-25 lead in the third quarter to 48-36, but 12 points was the closest the game would get.

Brady Welch poured in 34 points for Moline to lead all scorers. Ami Singh added 15 in the win.

Owens paced the Chargers with 21 points, and Will Maher scored 13 off the bench.
