The first win came at Westmer. An Illinois high school basketball coach is approaching the 900-win milestone in his career. Neil Alexander is the longtime coach at Lincoln High School, but he got his start at Westmer in the 1976/77 school year fresh out of Monmouth College. The Warriors were 4 and 19 that season. He was also the head football coach in his lone year at Westmer and that’s actually where his first ever varsity win occurred.
Neil Alexander was inducted into the Monmouth College Hall of Fame in 1998. He was inducted into the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2004.
