Brenton G. Collins – Services 6/6/26

Brenton G. Collins, 38 of Seaton, died from injuries sustained in a traffic accident on Sunday, May 31, 2026. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m., Saturday, June 6, at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. Military Honors will be presented at 6 p.m. by the Aledo American Legion Post #121. A celebration of life will be held immediately following visitation at the Seaton Fire Station, where Brent proudly served as Chief. To honor his memory, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family for his children.

Brenton Gregory was born on January 6, 1988, in Monmouth, Illinois, to Charles Gregory and Lisa (Peterson) Collins. He served his country in the United States Air Force. Brent married the love of his life, Shannon Wright, on April 29, 2011, in Lake George, New York. They just celebrated their fifteenth wedding anniversary.

You could always find Brent ready with a smile, a laugh, and a smart comment. That was him, all the way through. He had a way of making you feel like you’d known him for years, even if you’d just met him, and once you were in his corner, you stayed there.

Brent was supervisor of the heavy equipment operators at Arconic. But serving his community was what he did best; from fire chief to Mercer County Bass Fishing Coach to helping a neighbor. Brent also served as Vice President to the West Central Bass Masters.

Brent enjoyed a good football or hockey game, always believing that this year his beloved Cowboys would finally win it all. But he was an avid outdoorsman through and through. When not working, he could be found camping, hunting – especially white tail deer, and fishing those elusive walleyes. And if there’s fishing in the beyond, you can bet he’s already out there landing the big ones and telling the best damn fishing stories anyone’s ever heard.

Those left to cherish Brent’s memory include the best damn wife, Shannon; children, Kylie Snyder, Michaela Snyder, and Hunter Collins; parents, Charles and Lisa Collins; a sister, Jackie Collins; and a niece and nephew, Mattelyn and Jaric Martin. He was preceded in death by a brother, Caleb “Dougie” Collins.
