Sherrard completed a season sweep of Mercer County in girls basketball, rolling to a 48-33 win in the 2A Riverdale Regional semifinals on Monday.
The Tigers (19-9) led 8-2 at the end of the first quarter and never trailed. Sherrard held a 20-15 advantage at half and extended the lead to 36-28 at the end of the third quarter.
Teagan Nelson scored a game-high 16 points to pace the Tigers. Grace Bohnert added 15 points, and Adalynn Elsbury also scored in double figures with 10 in the win.
The Tigers advance to play Riverdale (27-3) in the regional championship game in Port Byron on Thursday. The Rams crushed Erie-Prophetstown 47-24 in the first semifinal on Monday.
Shadia Williams led Mercer County (23-8) with 11 points in the season-ending loss. The Golden Eagles committed 20 turnovers and made just nine field goals in the game.
Sherrard has appeared in a regional championship game in girls basketball in 14 of the last 15 seasons.
