A Sherrard man facing sexual assault of a child charges will return to court next month.
59-year-old Arden Scott Anderson appeared in Mercer County Circuit Court on Tuesday, where his pretrial conference was continued to March 17. Mercer County State’s Attorney Grace Simpson objected to the continuance, but it was granted by a judge.
Anderson was arrested in September 2024 and charged with two Class X felony counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child. He was denied pretrial release and remains in custody at the Mercer County Jail.
Last July, Anderson had a jury trial scheduled for Jan. 26, but that date was waived as part of a continuance of the case in December.
