Riverdale clinched the outright TRAC West girls basketball championship with a 50-41 win over Mercer County in Aledo on Thursday.
The Rams (25-3, 9-0 TRAC West) opened the game on an 8-0 run and never trailed in the contest. Riverdale held a 16-8 lead at the end of the first quarter and led 26-17 at halftime. The Rams’ largest lead was 13 points in the second half.
Cayleigh Hungate scored 14 points to pace Riverdale in the win. Katie Cox, 12, and Jillian Murray, 10, also scored in double figures for the Rams.
Shadia Williams poured in a game-high 23 points to lead Mercer County (22-6, 6-3 TRAC West) in a losing effort.
