The most noteworthy local race in the primary is for Mercer County Sheriff, where all three candidates are running on the Republican ticket. The race is contested between Casey Switzer and Clayton Brendal, both Mercer County sheriff’s deputies, and Thomas Smith, an Aledo Police Department officer.
Mercer County Sheriff Dusty Terrill is not seeking re-election.
