New Boston Man’s Drug-Induced Homicide Trial Begins Monday

A jury trial begins on Monday for a New Boston man facing drug-induced homicide and methamphetamine delivery charges.

43-year-old Dale Robert Woodsmall is facing a Class X felony count of drug-induced homicide and two Class 2 felony counts of methamphetamine delivery. He was arrested in July of 2024 following a suspicious death investigation near Seaton that began last May, according to a Mercer County Sheriff’s Department media release.

Woodsmall remains in custody at the Mercer County Jail.

Illinois State Police, the Mercer County State’s Attorney’s office, Mercer County Coroner Greg Larson, the Peoria County Coroner’s office, and the Aledo Police Department assisted the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department with the investigation.
