Suzanne “Sue” Jones, 91 of Seaton, Illinois, died Sunday, May 11, 2025, at the Clarrisa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, Iowa. Per her wishes, private family services will be held. Burial will be in Candor Cemetery, Seaton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mercer County Senior Center or the Seaton Fire Department. Speer Funeral Home, Aledo, is assisting the family.
Sue was born on April 12, 1934, in Aledo, Illinois, to Manuel and Norine (Becker) Guy. After high school graduation, she attended the University of Iowa. She was a stewardess for several years for United Airlines, until she met the love of her life, Ward Jones. Sue and Ward were married on August 26, 1956, at the Center Presbyterian Church in Seaton. He preceded her in death on September 14, 2006.
Sue was a dedicated homemaker, who enjoyed caring for her family and attending her children and grandchildren’s events. She was a progressive 91-year-old who embraced technology and used it to stay in touch with her family on a daily basis. She was a member of the Center Presbyterian Church, Oakview Country Club, and a 70+ year member of Chapter H, PEO. She enjoyed playing bridge and golfing and was club champion at Oakview Country Club. Sue loved her pets, and always had either a cat or dog, or both, at home.
Sue is survived by her children, Dr. W. Scott and Linda Jones of Roseville, Christopher and Karen Jones of Seaton, and Elizabeth and Joseph Schaub of East Dundee, Illinois; grandchildren, Nicholas and Stacey Jones, Gregory and Kara Jones, Brian and Anna Jones, and Katie and Samuel Rowe; and great-grandchildren, Kenlee, Veda, Kipton, Parker, Jacob, Olivia, and Theodore. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sister and brother-in-law, Marian and Charles Hicklin.
