Outgoing Mercer County High School Principal Andrea Cooper says she’s looking forward to her new role as assistant principal at Sherrard High School.
Cooper was hired by the Sherrard School District for the position last month. She says both the personnel at Sherrard and the location make it a perfect fit for her.
Cooper was the principal at Mercer County High School for three years. Before that, she taught music in the Orion, Pleasant Valley, and Bettendorf School Districts. Cooper also spent three years teaching music for the United States Department of Defense Education Activity in Germany.
She’s replacing Alex Johnson as assistant principal after he was named Sherrard High School Principal for the 2025-26 school year, following current principal Tim Wernentin’s retirement.
