A new club being offered in the Sherrard School District is off to a successful start.
Sherrard CORE Leadership is a program designed to promote student leadership in the district through lessons, guest speakers and real-world application. It’s offered for junior high and high school students and focuses on what the program’s committee defined as its four pillars of leadership – competitiveness, ownership, resiliency and empowerment.
Sherrard High School football coach and teacher Brandon Johnston helped organize the program. He says there’s been great feedback from the administration, community, and students involved in Sherrard CORE Leadership.
Johnston spoke about the program on Sportsline Saturday morning. You can hear his complete interview on the WRMJ Sports Podcast Feed.
The group meets every other week.
