Rylan Carton hit a midrange jumper as time expired to lift Sherrard (30-3) over Tri-Valley (26-7) 65-63 in overtime in the semifinals of the IHSA 2A Sherrard Sectional Wednesday.
The buzzer-beater capped a 9-1 Sherrard run in the final 1:21 of overtime, which saw the Tigers erase a 62-56 deficit.
Carton gad a game-high 33 points with 16 coming in the fourth quarter and overtime. James Blackwell added 13 points for the Tigers in the win.
Brayden Stombaugh paced the Vikings with 24 points in the season-ending loss.
Sherrard advances to Friday’s sectional final against Manual (20-12) at home Friday at 7 p.m. The Rams beat Macomb 65-46 on Tuesday.
