Aledo Mayor Chris Hagloch recently joined WRMJ’s Focus to share exciting updates about funding for the city and upcoming community events.
Aledo Awarded $50,000 Electrification Grant
Mayor Hagloch announced that Aledo has received a $50,000 grant from Ameren Illinois to support electrification efforts in the city. The funds can be used for electric vehicles or charging stations, though the City Council is still weighing its options.
“We’re in the research stage of whether we want to buy an electric vehicle or install charging stations,” Hagloch said. “We hope that if we put in charging stations, visitors will stop in Aledo to recharge.”
Currently, there are no public charging stations within a 30-40 minute radius of the city, making this a potentially valuable infrastructure addition.
Central Park Grooves Returns for 2024
The popular Central Park Grooves concert series is set to return this summer with an exciting lineup of musical acts.
- June 21: Far Out 283 – A blues-rock band from the Quad Cities
- July 19: The Tailfins – A classic rock and roll group covering hits from the 1950s to the 1980s
- August 16: Ten of Soul – A ten-piece band specializing in soul, funk, and R&B classics
- September 13: A fourth event as part of Ride 17, with the headlining act to be announced at Rhubarb Fest
Concerts run from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., with music beginning at 7 p.m. Attendees can bring their own beverages to enjoy within Central Park, and local restaurants and taverns will offer drinks for carryout.
