Just Two Contested Races In Mercer County, District 3 County Board Seat & Resident Judge

Registration starts WednesdayA month out from the general election. There is just one contested county board race in Mercer County. It’s in District 3 where newcomer Colton Smith, a Democrat, is challenging Republican incumbent Linda Koepke.

In District 1, there is no one running for the open seat.

Incumbent Chris DeMink is running unopposed in District 2, incumbent Chris DeFrieze is running unopposed in District 4, and incumbent Gary Anderson is running unopposed in District 5.

Three countywide races are all uncontested—incumbent State’s Attorney Grace Simpson, incumbent Circuit Clerk Kristin Relander, and incumbent coroner Greg Larson are all running unopposed.

There is a contested race for resident judge in Mercer County between Democrat Dan Dalton and Republican Jeffrey McKinley.

There are several ballot questions, including a centralized elementary school for Rockridge, a referendum in the Seaton Fire Protection District, and formation of a Keithsburg Fire Protection District.
