Week 4: MERCO Beats Riverdale, Rockridge Blanks E-P, Sherrard Holds On To Beat Hall, Orion Falls To Newman

Mercer County (3-1, 2-0 TRAC Rock) downed Riverdale (1-3, 0-2 TRAC Rock) 36-7 at George Pratt Memorial Field Friday.

The Golden Eagles led 22-7 at the end of the first quarter and held a 28-7 advantage at halftime. John Baldwin connected with Daylen Blaser on two long touchdown passes in the win. Blaser caught seven passes for 121 yards and two TDs. Mason Gray added 130 yards and two TDs on the ground. Mercer County held Riverdale to just two yards rushing for the game.

Rockridge (3-1, 2-0 TRAC Rock) shutout Erie-Prophetstown (2-2, 0-2 TRAC Rock) 41-0 Friday.

The Rockets had a 14-0 lead at halftime. Cullen Schwigen completed 15 of 21 pass attempts for 286 yards and three TDs. Owen Steele, Liam Steele and Landon Wheatley each caught TD passes. Thomas Sowards finished with 16 carries for 97 yards and a touchdown in the win.

Sherrard (1-3, 1-1 TRAC Mississippi) got in the win column with a 20-14 victory over Hall (1-3, 1-1 TRAC Mississippi) at Clifford King Field.

Carter Brown scored two rushing TDs and Garrett Woodward added a score on the ground for the Tigers.

Newman (3-1, 2-0 TRAC Rock) crushed Orion (1-3, 0-2 TRAC Rock) 54-21 at Roscoe Eades Stadium Friday.

After an 86-yard touchdown pass from Kale Filler to Owen Voorhees, it was 14-14 with 1:42 to play in the first quarter. Newman then scored 40 straight points in less than two full quarters to go ahead 54-14 with 2:04 left in the third quarter. Evan Bushman passed for four TDs in the win for the Comets.
