Homeless veterans will benefit from a $3,000 donation to the CreatiVets Chapter in New Boston. CreatiVets mission is to empower wounded veterans to heal through the arts, music, and conversation with other veterans. Brad Long is the Business Manager for Laborers Local 309 in Rock Island and says union members are happy to give back.
New Boston CreatiVets founder Amy Hess says some homeless veterans in Mercer County may sleep in a camper, on a friend’s couch, or in an empty field. Tiny houses are also being set up to help the veterans.

Great Plains LECET Donates $3,000 to CreatiVets to Support Veterans’ Arts and Healing Programs
New Boston IL.– August 21, 2024 – Great Plains LECET (Laborers’- Employers Cooperation & Education Trust) is proud to announce a generous donation of $3,000 to CreatiVets, a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to helping veterans heal through the arts. This significant contribution underscores Great Plains LECET’s commitment to supporting veterans and enhancing community well-being.
CreatiVets, renowned for its innovative approach to veteran support, uses art and creative expression as powerful tools for emotional and psychological healing. The organization provides veterans with a range of programs, including songwriting workshops, visual arts classes, and therapeutic writing sessions, all aimed at fostering personal growth and resilience.
