Mary Florence Bloomfield, 86, passed softly from this earth on Thursday, August 8, 2024. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, August 14, at Aledo Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved Paul. Mary was born in Savannah, GA, on September 3, 1937, as the first of five children born to Cody Lester and Florence Mary Gear. He siblings included Gloria, Cody, Jr., Cody III, and Loraina.
Mary was loving mother of two sons, Terrell Tuten and Jonathan Tuten, and proud grandmother of Brock Tuten. She was Aunt Mary to several nieces and nephews and there are many in-laws and cousins in the family.
Mary’s parents; two siblings, Gloria and Cody, Jr.; and her son, Terrell, pre-deceased her.
Mary’s path finally crossed with the true love of her life, Paul Bloomfield, when she was boarding a cruise ship at the Port of Miami in connection with her travel business and Paul was vacationing with friends from Aledo for a Caribbean cruise. Paul always said he knew instantly Mary was the “one” for him. They really hit it off during that cruise week and endured a long-distance romance for about a year. They happily married in December of 1987 and honeymooned on the same ship where they met. She loved being Mrs. Paul Bloomfield. She enjoyed living in Aledo and appreciated the quality of life living in a small town. She loved the quite slower pace which was a new and welcomed experience for her. They were abundantly happy until Paul’s passing in September, 2018.
Mary accomplished many amazing things in her time on earth. She was extremely intelligent and held very responsible positions with several corporations and colleges during her working career. She never enjoyed working any more than when she was able to open her own business and established The Cruise Travel Center. She loved helping her clients have wonderful vacations and, of course, she thought cruising was the best way to go! Mary always succeeded in anything she put her mind to…and never took “no” as an answer.
Mary had many other dear friends and family members too numerous to mention. Mary loved traveling, cooking, maintaining their home, and spending time with family and friends. She was always enthusiastic about any new challenge or opportunity which came her way.
She was a faithful Christian and her faith sustained her through these last very difficult years and the remaining family and friends know she is in her eternal home with the Lord Jesus.
