Plambeck Sentencing Moved To September

A September 16 sentencing hearing has been scheduled for a Sherrard woman found guilty of 11 felony animal cruelty counts earlier this year. The new date was set Monday in Mercer County Circuit Court during an appearance for 60-year-old Karen Plambeck, who has retained new legal counsel.

She was found guilty during a bench trial last March.

Plambeck was charged following an August of 2022 investigation where 198 dogs were rescued from her property.

All 198 dogs were forfeited to the care of Mercer County Animal Control. Over $170,000 worth of veterinary and boarding costs were introduced as evidence in a court hearing in September of 2022.
