Mercer County High School’s Paige Davis and Alayna Mitchell have advanced to Saturday’s finals at the 1A girls state track meet at Eastern Illinois University. Davis runs the 100 hurdles and Mitchell competes in the 300 hurdles.
United High School’s 4×100, 4×200, and 4×400 relay teams have also advanced to the 1A finals along with Reece Bertelsen in the 200.
At the 1A boys track sectional at Erie Thursday night, Rockridge is able to qualify for state in several events.
Alex Zarlatanes and Vaughn Frere in discus; Frere in the shot put; Caleb Cunico in the high jump; and Jacob Freyermuth in the 100.
In high school baseball from Thursday night; Rockridge advances to Saturday’s regional championship game by defeating Bureau Valley 9-4. The Rockets will play Monmouth-Roseville for the regional title.
