Sherrard (21-6) and Mercer County (13-17) advanced to Friday night’s 2A Mercer County regional championship game with wins in the semi-finals Tuesday.
The Tigers beat Orion (16-17) for the third time this season 51-29. Violet Meskan scored a game-high 16 points for Sherrard. Olivia Meskan added 11. Kamryn Brown paced the Chargers with 10 points.
Mercer County avenged two losses in the regular season to Knoxville (17-14) with a 38-31 win over the Blue Bullets. Sydney Lamkin poured in 14 points for the Golden Eagles. Ella Hebard led Knoxville with 12 in a losing effort.
Mercer County and Sherrard will play for the regional championship Friday night at 7:00 p.m. Pre-game coverage will begin on WRMJ at 6:30 p.m.
Sherrard beat Mercer County 41-36 in December.
