Mercer County Sheriff Dusty Terrill releasing information on monitoring registered sex offenders and violent offenders. Every year the office conducts an address verification of those individuals. The Mercer County Sheriff’s Dept. is responsible for keeping track of anyone that has been convicted of a sex crime or violent crime against children living within Mercer County, and those parties are required by law to register with law enforcement. There are 36 such offenders in Mercer County with 33 in compliance.
One of the offenders is in the Scott County Jail for failing to register. Another offender has an outstanding warrant for failing to register and has been located in Wyoming. And a third offender has an outstanding warrant, but has not been located.
