Mercer County Area Now Under Winter Weather Advisory For Friday

From the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities:
Ice and Snow on New Year`s Day.
A winter storm is expected to affect the area New Year`s Day.
Snow will overspread the area in the morning reaching Interstate
80 by 9 a.m. The snow will continue to spread northward during the
day and eventually end from west to east late New Year`s Day.
During the morning hours, snow will change to sleet then freezing
rain mainly along the Highway 34 corridor. This freezing rain is
expected move north and then east along Interstate 80 in Illinois.
Overall 2 to 4 inches are expected across the advisory area and
ice accumulation totals to near 2 tenths in the far south.

A light glaze of ice is also possible.

Mercer Counties.

* WHEN…From 6 AM Friday to midnight CST Friday night.

* IMPACTS…Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous
conditions could impact the morning and evening commute.
