The head of the group that runs high school sports in Illinois says they cannot last another year without fans in local stands. IHSA Executive Director Craig Anderson on Thursday told the Peoria Journal Star that the organization is dealing with some serious financial issues. Anderson says the IHSA is looking at a two-million-dollar deficit. The IHSA gets money from both school membership fees and tickets to its state championships. There was no championship in basketball last year or in football this fall, and both of those are huge events for the IHSA. Anderson says he expects there will be winter sports this year, but he doesn’t think the state will allow fans to attend games. The IHSA Board of Directors meets next Wednesday, Oct. 28 to take action on winter sports, which are set to begin Nov. 16.
