The Mercer County Board hears from American Legion reps from Aledo, Eliza, and Reynolds this week. All expressed funding concerns regarding the Mercer County Veterans Assistance program. Among those addressing the board this week were Dick Nash from the Eliza American Legion and Kevin Kilkenny of the Reynolds American Legion.
Mercer County Board Chairman Carlos Sarabasa says the issue will get further attention.
In the monthly Mercer County Treasurer’s report to the board, Bev Lower indicated the Vets Assistance fund will not have enough money to get through July 10.
Also this week, the county board learned the public building commission received two bids for elevator replacement at the Mercer County Courthouse – one for $126,000 and the other for $128,000.
