The Mercer County Sheriff’s Department has confirmed that the youth who suffered a gunshot wound earlier this week has died from his injuries. The male juvenile died Thursday at University Hospitals in Iowa City. He was taken there late Wednesday afternoon after the incident in Matherville. No other information has been released at this time. The matter remains under investigation by the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department and Johnson County, Iowa Medical Examiner’s office.
