There has been amended information filed in the criminal case against Mercer County High School teacher Mark Artcher. Originally, he was charged with two Class X felonies of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child, but now he is facing two Class 2 felonies of aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a child along with a single Class X felony–involving three different victims under the age of 13. Class X felonies are punishable by 6-to-30 years in prison upon conviction while Class 2 felonies carry maximum penalties of 3-to-7 years in prison. Artcher is free on $100,000 bond and has been placed on leave by the Mercer County School District. His preliminary hearing remains on May 13th in Mercer County Circuit Court.
