Mercer County hunters harvest 1,545 deer during all 2018/2019 archery and firearm seasons. That compares to 1,479 the year before. Statewide, the deer kill was just over 151,000 during the 2018/2019 seasons, which is 4,000 greater than the year before says Ed Cross with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.
The breakdown for Mercer County in 2018/2019 seasons included 520 for archery, 38 for youth, 851 for firearm, 49 for muzzleloader, and 87 for late winter.
