The Orion Chargers and Monmouth-Roseville Titans both had their playoff runs end Saturday in the quarterfinals. In Class 2A, Eastland-Pearl City downed Orion 30-3 at Charger Field. The Wildcats jumped out to a 13-0 lead but Orion was threatening to score late in the first half but a fumble ended the drive. EPC then scored on their first position of the second half and the Chargers never recovered. Orion ends the season at 11-1. EPC advances to play defending state champion Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley in the semifinals.
In Class 3A, the Herscher Tigers rallied in the final 2:29 to top Monmouth-Roseville 24-20. The Titans scored with 2:29 left but the Tigers scored with :49 left to pull out the victory.
