A grant from the Looser-Flake Charitable Foundation could pave the way for a new varsity ball diamond at Northside Park. The issue was discussed at an Aledo City Council committee meeting this week. The city would have to contribute $15,000 toward the project in order to receive a $30,000 grant says City Administrator Erin Knackstedt.
The new diamond would be west of the concession stand at Northside. Knackstedt says aldermen also discussed moving forward with a public hearing next month to discuss a single solid waste hauler for community residents.
The hearing will likely be September 11th or 12th at the Aledo Fire Station. A definite time will be set next week.
