The trial for an Alexis man charged in a Mercer County sex abuse case has been continued to later this year. 55 year old Moses Anderson’s trial was set to begin next week, but his attorney asked for a continuance earlier this week in Mercer County Circuit Court despite objections from Mercer County State’s Attorney Meeghan Lee. The matter is now set to be heard March 5th. Anderson has waived his right to a jury trial and will instead proceed with a bench trial. He is facing Class 1 and Class 2 felonies in connection with alleged incidents involving a ten year old girl in June of 2015. He originally entered an “Alford plea” to a lesser Class A misdemeanor charge in March of 2016, but was allowed to withdraw that plea three months later. Anderson remains free on $50,000 bond.
