A final pre-trial conference scheduled for a Milan man charged in a drug induced death investigation in rural Sherrard. The Feb. 13 date was set this week in Mercer County Circuit Court during an appearance for 42-year-old William DeWitt.
A jury trial is set for the week of Feb. 24.
DeWitt was taken into custody last spring and is facing First Degree Murder and Drug Induced Homicide counts stemming from the December of 2023 death of 63-year-old Anthony Qualls. DeWitt has pleaded not guilty to both charges and remains in custody at the Mercer County Jail.
A co-defendant in the case, 53-year-old Susan M. McFalls of Colona, will be back in court March 4. She is charged with First Degree Murder and Drug Induced Homicide via accountability. McFalls is out on pre-trial release.
