Not record flooding along the Mississippi River at Lock and Dam 17 in New Boston and Keithsburg, but a broad crest. That’s how Matt Wilson with the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities describes the situation.
At Lock and Dam 17, the river level is 19.5 with an expected crest of 20.9 feet next Tuesday morning. Flood stage is 15 feet. At 21 feet, water affects grain elevators in New Boston.
At Keithsburg, the river level is 17.9 feet with an 18.9 feet crest expected next Tuesday night. Flood stage is 14 feet. At 19 feet, seepage behind Keithsburg’s levee affects businesses on 4th Street and affects Keithsburg Road at Pope Creek.
