As part of WRMJ’s Senior Spotlight series, we’re proud to feature Lily Bohnsack — a standout member of the Rockridge High School Class of 2025.
Lily has made the most of her time at Rockridge, embracing both athletics and academics with passion. A dedicated member of the volleyball and track teams, she fondly remembers the camaraderie that came from long bus rides, shared victories, and friendships built through sports. “It definitely taught me time management and leadership,” she told WRMJ’s Ty Taylor. “You really learn how to balance your schedule, be patient, and help lead others.”
But Lily’s high school experience extended far beyond the court and field. She has been an active member of several organizations, including the Gray Matters Collective, FCA, National Honor Society, and choir. Her involvement in Gray Matters — a student-led mental health initiative launched during her freshman year — grew into a leadership role her senior year. “It’s about making it okay to talk about your feelings and supporting each other,” she said.
In the classroom, Lily enjoyed diving into human anatomy and social studies, subjects that sparked her interest in the world and how it works. That curiosity and creativity will guide her to Iowa State University this fall, where she plans to study architecture. “I’ve always been into art, but I didn’t want to be a traditional artist,” Lily shared. “Architecture seemed like a perfect way to use both my artistic and academic skills in a career that helps people.”
Lily credits the tight-knit Rockridge community for making her high school years so special. “Everyone knows everyone — it’s like family,” she said.
