Sherrard (5-1) beat Rock Island (1-3) in baseball at home Tuesday, 6-5.
Rock Island scored a run in the top of the first inning. The Tigers answered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first and two more runs in the third inning to take a 4-1 lead.
The Rocks cut the lead to 4-2 with a run in the top of the fourth inning. In the bottom half, Cam Davis hit a two-out, two-RBI double to put Sherrard up 6-2. In the top of the seventh, Rock Island got the go-ahead run on base but stranded two runners to end the game.
Davis was 1-2 with 3 RBI. Aiden Switzer went 2-2 and drove in two runs for the Tigers in the win.
Sam Crownover was the winning pitcher for Sherrard. He allowed two runs in four innings.
