A Western Illinois Congressman wants the federal government to supply $50 million for Illinois infrastructure projects before significant economic development occurs.
The program is part of U.S. Rep. Eric Sorensen’s ONSHORE Act, which creates a piggy bank for federal funds to use on an as-needed basis.
Sorensen says the Critical Supply Chain Site Development Program would help Illinois attract new businesses and spur job growth.
If approved, the $50 million federal grant would be available for use in Illinois in 2027.
Sorensen represents the eastern portion of Mercer County in Congress.
