Sherrard Sweeps TRAC Boys & Girls Cross Country Championships

Sherrard won the Three Rivers Athletic Conference (TRAC) championship in boys and girls cross country in Monmouth Tuesday.

The Tigers claimed their fourth straight conference title in girls cross country by scoring 46 points. Sherrard finished 21 points ahead of second-place Riverdale’s 67. The rest of the girls team standings were rounded out by Princeton (69), Mercer County (117), Erie-Prophetstown (120), Orion (127), and Rockridge (131).

Sherrard had four runners on the 15-person all-conference team. Anna Churchill and Beth Churchill finished first and second individually for the Tigers, along with teammates Tori Browning (ninth) and Kylie Mathis (15th).

Mercer County freshman Emalyn Millar took third place. Ingrid Hays (12th) also earned all-conference honors for the Golden Eagles. Rockridge’s Kenzie Meyer took 13th to be named all-conference.

The rest of the all-TRAC girls country team is made up of Princeton’s Ruby Acker, Payton Frueh and Alexandra Waca, Riverdale’s Jillian Murray and Ava Gaulrapp, Kewanee’s Nolie Charlet, and Erie-Prophetstown’s Sarah Link.

In the boys meet, Sherrard scored 38 points to beat second-place Riverdale’s 47. Mercer County (54) finished in third place, followed by Erie-Prophetstown (76), Hall (150), and Mendota (160).

The Tigers had four all-conference runners led by Alex Belha’s second place finish. He was joined on the all-TRAC team by fellow Sherrard competitors David Browning (fourth), Luke Anderson (seventh), and Dominic Fahrenkrog (10th).

Mercer County’s Jack McKnight (fifth), Mason Coulter (eighth), Brody Clark (11th), and Brady McPeek (15th) earned all-conference honors.

Riverdale junior Braeden Bode finished first individually. Andy Murray and Conner Musser were the other all-TRAC honorees for the Rams. The rest of the all-TRAC boys cross country team consists of Princeton’s Augustus Swanson and Erie-Prophetstown’s Justin Wainscott, Nathan Punke and Aiden Jepson.
