Sherrard Sweeps TRAC Boys & Girls Cross Country Championships For Second Straight Season

Sherrard claimed both the boys’ and girls’ TRAC cross country championships at the conference’s cross country meet on Tuesday in Princeton.

It’s the Tigers’ fifth straight girls cross country conference title and second consecutive boys cross country conference championship.

In the girls’ field, Sherrard scored 56 points to finish three points ahead of second-place Princeton (59). Riverdale (61), Mercer County (79), Erie-Prophetstown (99), and Orion (138) rounded out the field. Sherrard junior Anna Churchill finished first individually with a time of 19:50.81. Other local all-conference honorees included Sherrard’s Tori Browning (7th) and Kylie Mathis (11th), and Mercer County’s Emalyn Millar (2nd), Brookelyn Clark (8th) and Helen Baldwin (10th).

On the boys’ side, the Tigers scored 39 points, which was 13 points clear of second-place Erie-Prophetstown’s 52. Riverdale (85), Mercer County (94), Mendota (136), Orion (142), Princeton (180), Hall (208). Riverdale’s Braeden Bode took first as an individual with a time of 16:25.52. Local all-conference earners included Sherrard’s Alex Belha (2nd), David Browning (3rd), Dominic Fahrenkrog (10th), Luke Anderson (13th) and Payton Summers (14th), Mercer County’s Brody Clark (5th) and Josh Struble (6th), and Rockridge’s Colton Reid (15th).
