Rockridge scored four runs in the top of the fourth inning and added eight more in the fifth to pull away in a 12-5 win over Mercer County in softball on Tuesday in Aledo.
Trailing 1-0 entering the fourth, the Rockets (11-2, 2-1 TRAC West) first six batters of the inning reached base safely, which turned into four runs. In the fifth, eight of the first nine batters reached base, which powered the Rockets to an eight-run knockout blow.
Bri Schlapkohl had two hits, including a home run, and was the winning pitcher in relief. Kayley Schlapkohl, Charley Perkins, Emilee Black, Tatum Lowe, Madelyn David, Taylor Hoggard, and Ava Boden also recorded multiple-hit games for the Rockets.
Natalie Thomson led off the bottom of the first inning with a home run for Mercer County (5-5, 1-2 TRAC West). She finished 2-4 with two RBI. Elsie Cook was 2-3 at the plate with two RBI in the loss.
Cook took the loss in the pitcher’s circle for the Golden Eagles.
