Rockridge pitchers combined to no-hit Mercer County in an 11-1 win in the semifinals of the IHSA 2A Mercer County Regional in Aledo on Wednesday.
Cullen Schwigen pitched the first four innings of the game, allowing an unearned run on no hits, four walks and six strikeouts in the win. Ryan Oelke pitched a hitless top of the fifth inning.
The Rockets (28-7) scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning and led for the rest of the day. Owen Steele drove in three runs in the win, while Schwigen and Kainen Mumme each had two RBI for Rockridge.
Donovan Brown took the loss on the mound for the Golden Eagles (4-21), giving up seven runs in three innings.
Rockridge advances to Saturday’s regional championship game to play either St. Bede (23-12) or IVC (15-16).
