Legislation sponsored by local State Rep. Norine Hammond (R-Macomb) aimed at helping protect those in assisted and shared living has been approved in the Illinois Senate and now heads to the governor’s desk for approval.
The legislation provides that comprehensive assessments of the prospective resident shall be completed by a physician, a physician assistant, or an advanced practice registered nurse. It also provides that assessments completed annually or due to a change in the resident’s condition must be signed by a physician.
The bill was unanimously approved in both the House and Senate.
