A 1973 Rockridge grad is the new Chief Judge of the Fourteenth Judicial Circuit. Frank Fuhr was elected to the position by the Circuit Judges in the four counties of the circuit—Mercer, Henry, Rock Island and Whiteside. He will fill the remainder of the current Chief Judge term, which expires in December 2020. Fuhr is replacing Walter Braud, who stepped down as Chief Judge on October 7th. Judge Braud was first elected Chief Judge in December 2014 and re-elected Chief Judge in 2016 and 2018. Judge Braud became a circuit judge on September 21, 2001 and continues to serve as a circuit judge but recently announced plans to retire soon. The Illinois 14th Judicial Circuit was formed in 1897 and consists of Henry, Mercer, Rock Island and Whiteside counties. There are 12 circuit judges and 10 associate judges. Fuhr was appointed Associate Judge in 2008 and he was elected Circuit Judge in 2010. He began practicing law in 1980.
