Robert “Bob” John Dodge, 69 of rural Aledo, Illinois, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on Wednesday, January 4, 2023. Visitation is 4 to 6 p.m., Monday, January 9, at Dennison Funeral Home, Aledo. Funeral services are 11 a.m., Tuesday, January 10, at the funeral home. Burial, with military rites, will be in Candor Cemetery, rural Aledo. Memorials may be left for Mercer County V.F.W.
Bob was born September 8, 1953 in Geneseo, Illinois, the son of John and Lillian Hepner Dodge. He graduated from Geneseo High School. Bob served in the United States Army from 1970-1972. He worked at Maytag in Galesburg for 30 years, retiring in 2002 as a General Foreman. On January 12, 1985, he married Carol Swanson in Alexis. In 1996, Bob established his family farm in rural Aledo, where he enjoyed living and farming in the area. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing and hunting, as well as buying on ebay and attending flea markets. He and Carol enjoyed wintering in Florida.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 38 years: Carol Dodge; children: Shayna and James Davis, Bill and Veronica Vorva, Brian and Heather Vorva, and Justin and Karla Dodge; and 10 grandchildren: Kaylin, Kyleb, Nolan, Hunter, Jacob, Lillian, Wyatt, Abel, Eliza, and Iyla.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister: Sandra Dodge.
